EU-NormCon researcher Martijn Vlaskamp organizes at IBEI Barcelona the symposium ‘The Micro-Dynamics of Armed Conflicts’. The symposium will be held on May 31st and June 1st and will count with Stathis Kalyvas as keynote speaker. Kalyvas is Gladstone Professor of Government in the Department of Politics and International Relations (University of Oxford).
The aim of the symposium is to bring together researchers that study armed conflicts from such a micro-dynamics perspective, namely that their primary unit of analysis is focused on the behavior of individual and groups rather than on the state. Contributions from scholars that work on conflict management and termination policies are also welcomed, specifically those reflecting on how well national and international actors integrate our knowledge of the micro-dynamics of armed conflicts into their policies.
